Die Casting & Stamping Mist Collectors
Every time a die closes, casting and stamping operations release intense bursts of oil smoke, lubricant mist, and fine metallic particulate. Here's how to capture it before it spreads through your facility.
CFM per Die-cast machine
800–3,000
CFM per Stamping press
400–1,500

This page covers mist and smoke collection for die casting and metal stamping — the contaminants each process generates, the technical requirements (including high source temperatures), and which Aeroex unit fits. It's for plant managers running casting cells or stamping presses who need to control oil smoke and lubricant mist at the source.
What Do Die Casting and Stamping Put Into the Air?
Die casting and metal stamping generate intense bursts of contaminant every time a die closes. Die casting releases die-release-agent smoke, hydraulic oil mist, and aluminium or zinc particulate; stamping releases lubricant mist and drawing-compound aerosol. Without effective source capture, these contaminants accumulate throughout the facility, degrading air quality and leaving an oily film on equipment and floors. Source temperatures can run up to 200 °C, so the capture system has to tolerate heat as well as a bursty, oily load.
Technical Requirements for Casting & Stamping
Parameter | Die casting | Stamping |
|---|---|---|
Airflow | 800–3,000 CFM per machine | 400–1,500 CFM per press |
Particle size range | 0.3–10 µm (oil smoke dominant) | 0.5–15 µm (lubricant mist) |
Filtration efficiency | ≥ 99.97% at 0.3 µm (HEPA); ≥ 95% at 0.5 µm pre-stage | |
Typical contaminants | Die-release smoke, hydraulic oil mist, aluminium/zinc particulate | Stamping lubricant mist, drawing-compound aerosol |
Source temperature | Up to 200 °C (requires heat-tolerant capture) |
Why Source Temperature and Burst Loads Matter
Unlike steady machining mist, casting and stamping produce hot, intermittent bursts — a slug of oil smoke each time the die cycles, at temperatures up to 200 °C. The collector, hood, and ducting have to tolerate that heat, and the filtration has to absorb a spiky load without blinding off. A coalescing pre-stage handles the bulk oil, and a HEPA final stage takes the fine smoke down to 0.3 micron.

Which Aeroex System Fits Casting & Stamping?
For individual presses and casting cells, the compact, machine-mounted Mist-Fit is the natural fit. Larger machines, higher airflow, or multiple stations may call for the Maverick. For the broader metalworking context, see the metalworking mist collectors page, or talk to a specialist about your casting or stamping line.
